THE SHOW

Young Soy Gallery is proud to present, Flânerie, a celebration of the narratives of our beloved city through the eyes of five recent and prospective graduates from Hong Kong.

The lineup of our artist who will be showing at “Flânerie”!

Embodying this practice, Angelique Santos, Celine Lam, Jerome Leung, Lewis Lee, and Max Lee depict their observed social landscapes, memories, and the dwellers of Hong Kong. Their works act as vehicles for introspection and social commentary, touching upon themes of family history, social dichotomies, public space, and melancholy.

Elegantly dressed office-dwellers darting through the rain, domestic workers waiting patiently outside a school to pick up children, water drops from the air-conditioners above…These seemingly mundane scenes are what form the unique portrait of Hong Kong. Such details can only be observed through the act of Flânerie, meaning to aimlessly and idly observing the intricacies of the everyday happenings on the streets.

In preparation for Flânerie we hosted our first artist residency!

Together, the artists’ works encapsulate their bittersweet relationship with the city and their unwavering commitment to shaping its narrative. Join us at Flânerie, and take a stroll in the city through the eyes of these young minds.
