Snap! Crackle! Pop! A3 PRINT 1/8 by Riya Chandiramani

$1,500.00

  • Print:
    1/8
  • Size: A3
    29.7 cm (W) X 42 cm (H)
  • At the center of Snap! Crackle! Pop!, the goddess Chinnamasta ‘she whose head is severed’ sits on top of a couple making love. Blood spurts from Chinnamasta’s severed neck, into her own mouth, and into the mouths of two figures: a mother’s sacrifice. Here, Chandiramani depicts Chinnamasta as a life-giver and a life-taker, as the symbol of sexual self-control and an embodiment of sexual energy. The background of the image shows rice paddy fields, from which Rice Krispies originate. Chandiramani presents virginity as a social construct, of purity, symbolized by the lotuses, and the milk, which nourishes but also suggests sexual fluid.
