- About the piece: Easily mistaken as a mythical creature, the Chinthe is, by definition and translation, a natural lion in Burmese. Nowadays, the Chinthe is usually guarding pagodas. The story behind Chinthe is a little more dramatic, considering that the princess of the Vagna Kingdom had a son called Sinhabahu through her marriage to a lion, which later set out on a rampage after being abandoned.
