Introducing

ALVIN CK LAM

Alvin is a home-grown artist who recalls picking up a paintbrush long before chopsticks. Raised in Hong Kong and later having spent a number of years abroad, upon his return he quickly noticed how Hong Kong’s streetscape has transformed —and at an ever accelerating pace in the past decade.

In 2020, through watercolor and paper, Alvin inadvertently embarked on a personal journey of rediscovering his hometown, as he began uncovering untold stories in the most ordinary places. In that same year, Alvin left his career in hospitality behind, setting off to pursue his mission in a race against time to capture and share the disappearing stories of an extraordinary generation who helped shape the Hong Kong today and made Hong Kong so uniquely Hong Kong.

Often painted with painstaking detail through extensive observation, each piece tells of a not-so-distant past and future and the timeless struggle between progress and tradition, reality and ambition —a celebration of the ‘Lion Rock Spirit’ and the rich cultural heritage of a place he proudly calls home.
